Energy Hackathon project was held for students
Energy Hackathon was initiated by SOCAR AQS in cooperation with Texas A&M. In the project devoted to sustainable society and global energy solutions, students were competing as a team. In the Hackathon held on February 7-9 with the support of Innoland Incubation and Acceleration Center, participating teams presented innovative solutions and prototypes for the given energy challenge.
10 out of 50 applied teams competed in the first stage of the project. Selected teams consist of 3rd and 4th year, and master students of universities such as French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA), Baku Engineering University (BAU), Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and Baku branch of Moscow State University. Solutions designed within 48 hours by 12 participating teams were evaluated by a board of judges.
“E-zone” team representing Baku Engineering University students proposed the “(2*2=5) Using Smart Technologies in the Efficient Storage of Energy”, “Amirli” team representing Baku branch of Moscow State University proposed the “Modification of Hydroelectricity Storage” and “Deep Divers” team representing French-Azerbaijani University proposed “Molten-salt Energy Storage” projects and won.
3 teams passing the Energy Hackathon will participate in the virtual stage of Invent for the Planet 2020 competition organized by Texas A&M on February 14-16.
The winner of the virtual competition will get the opportunity to represent Azerbaijan in the final stage of Invent for the Planet competition held in Texas, USA on March 30 – April 2. All the expenses for participation in the competition will be covered by SOCAR AQS.
As a result of this competition, innovative solutions can be developed further to an international startup project.
